The first full week of school went by fast and slow at the same time. It is nice to get back into a routine. It was also very nice that I have little to no homework.
I did freak out about the pre-req assessment just a little bit. I felt that I still didn't recall everything on the packet and that my first grade in AP Calc would be a F. But, going over the packet cleared up a few things. The assessment ended up being easier than expected and I passed with flying colors.
I was ecstatic that we were going to start the year off with limits. It is nice to start with something that I feel really confident doing. I flew through the limits lab, understanding each question and what it wanted me to know. My group had a little trouble with the last question that was cleared up the next day in class. My mind was blown during the limits lessons when you could use substitution to find the limit. Last year was more plug it into the calculator, there you go, you found the limit! By doing it step by step, you really get to see the reason algebrically why the answer is what it is. It is nice to see the problem as a graph too, but seeing it in more than one way gives you a different view of the same probelm. By using alegbra, I will further my learning of limits. I had little trouble with the first half limits homework and that makes me feel very confident in my math skills. I have not looked at the second half of the limits homework but with my confidence, I hope that I will understand and fly through the problems.
I hope that next week will also have concepts that I understand this well.
