First things first, I really liked this. It was really well done and very interesting to read.
In Frank Kafka's parable "Before the Law", we see how our decisions and the law can affect our lives. The Law is shown as impossible to get. The man has to go through many gates each guarded by a scarier guard in order to get to the end. But the man never gets past the first guard in his life. He never decides to venture past the guard, resulting in his failure. As the man is dying, the guard tells him that the gate was made specifically for him and that only he could of entered it. What I think this means that the choices we make can open or shut gates of opportunity. Our decisions can cause us to miss opportunities, like the man in the story. If he had made the choice to go through the gates, he might have made it to the Law. But instead he died at the gates wondering about what could have been,
This parable exists to tell us a simple fact of life. Throughout our life, we have "gates" and we have the choice to go through them or not. Our choices are what shape us as a person.
In Antigone, decisions are the reason the story is the way it is. Antigone's decision to bury her brother is a noble one, but she gave up a comfortable life. Instead, her decision caused the deaths of many people.
Decisions are a very important part of life and can really impact our futures.. The man in the story chooses to wait for the law and never reaches it and Antigone chooses to break the law and gives up her future. Choosing to break a law of either political or moral nature can cause great impact on our lives.
